Question: Where do I find the criteria for judging the nominations?

Answer: When you are on the web site and have scrolled down to your selected Awards category, the criteria is listed there.

Question: I am having trouble addressing some of points on the nomination form. How should I proceed?

Think of those points and of the criteria in terms of telling us about your program: how did it develop? how are you implementing your program? how do you measure your impact on the people you are helping? how do you measure your successes?

Question: Who can nominate?

Answer: Anyone, even self nominations are accepted.

Question: How do I decide which category fits?

Answer: We've included a quick reference guide below:

Excellence in Programming for Indigenous Canadians

Measurable outcomes that have had meaningful impacts for Indigenous families and communities.

Must be an Indigenous Canadian including First Nations, Inuit or of Métis descent.

Excellence in Community Programming

Initiatives that have had a positive impact on communities.

For example: a needle exchange program, a broad based physical or health promotion program, or a treatment centre etc.

Excellence in Leadership

Could be someone with long time service in any field – research, treatment, education, enforcement, health, medicine, etc.

Excellence in Media Reporting

Anyone in media who educates regarding the complex issues related to mental health and substance abuse issues.

Excellence in Mental Health and Substance Use Programming

Could be treatment, prevention or intervention programs.

Excellence in Public Policy

Federal, provincial, regional, territorial, Indigenous, municipal initiatives that impact on policy related to the negative effects of mental health and / or of alcohol or substance abuse.

For example: alcohol policies or smoking bylaws or any work related to concurrent disorders, etc.

Excellence in Youth Leadership

Initiatives must be created by youth (under the age of 25) for youth (under the age of 25).
